Companion Care

Companion care is about providing people with emotional support and encouragement to stay as mentally and physically active and healthy as possible.  It helps maintain independence in the home and can prevent loneliness, depression and isolation from lack of interaction.  Family members will find peace of mind by gaining perspective and respite. Activities include non medical care such as personal care, housekeeping, social activities and basic oversight to ensure a client's emotional and physical needs are cared for.  Companion care may also include such things as:

  • Stimulating human interaction & conversation

  • Comforting presence & listening

  • Transportation with client to/from appointments, shopping, errands, lunch outings, special events, visits with neighbors and friends

  • Activities: reading, games, projects, crafts, correspondence & general brain stimulation

  • Arrange and accompany to plays, concerts, holiday and religious events

  • Exercise: walking, stretching, range of motion and oversee prescribed exercises

  • Assisting with family member communications

  • And more....
